Longsleddale Outdoor Pursuits Centre is set in a small plot of land in Longsleddale Valley, just North of Kendal. The centre consists of four buildings: the main barn; the sleeping barn; the kit barn; and the toilet block. Here's a bit of information on each.
The main barn is the heart of LOPC, this where the action takes place. The barn is open plan with a games and activities hall, a dining area and the kitchens. Most importantly however is the log burning stove - to warm everybody up after a long (potentially chilly) day on the hills.
Across the camping field from the main barn lies our sleeping barn.
The sleeping barn houses three rooms - two large and one small. The two larger rooms contain two tiers of long beds sleeping up to 24 in and the small dorm, sleeping four, is ideal as a leaders room - but sleeping bags will be needed in all rooms.
As you can probably guess from the name, this barn is where we store all our kit for the myraid of outdoor activities that we provide. This ranges from general waterproofs and walking boots to climbing harnesses, ropes and karabiners. It also harbours the wood needed to fuel our fire!
Our toilet block is separated into male and female sections, each with sinks and toilets. Most importantly, however, are the hot showers which are always appreciated after ghyll scrambling and wet mountain days.
