Being located in a remote part of the Lake District, Longsleddale Outdoor Pursuits Centre is in a unique position to offer a range of adventurous activities while also giving you the oportunity to relax!
Our volunteer instructors are highly qualified and experienced at leading your chosen activity. We hold an AALA licence indicating our high standards of safety and delivery. The activities that we can offer are outlined below.
Just a short walk away from the centre lies Brock Crag. It is from here that we run both climbing and abseiling. A range of routes, ideal for both novice and pro climbers, can be climbed.
While one of the high featureless slabs is ideal for abseiling down.
Our archery range is hosted on one of the adjacent farmers fields. Test your accuracy on our competition targets, but avoid the roaming sheep! Archery can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities.
A mix of both physical and mental challenges, small teams will be tasked with completing a range of activities on our main field. This activity is excellent for youth groups, schools and D of E participants.
For those that wish to wish to experience the adrenaline rush of jumping into a spine tingly cold plunge pool after climbing up the river to it, ghyll scrambing is the activity for you. Depending on the conditions and the group, LOPC can offer ghyll scrambing in two different locations - both just a short walk from the centre. This a great team building activity.
Longsleddale OPC is ideally loacted for hill walking. Based on the abilities in your group, our hill walking ranges from short low level hikes to long overnight expeditions - or a mixture of the two. These can be great for Duke of Edinburgh participants and school groups alike.
Navigation exercises can be tied in with hill walking while our instructors can offer training in more advanced navigational techniques.
At the end of the day, after a tired session in the hills, we run games in the main barn. Both fun and entertaining, our games are a mix of team building challenges and games that will simply make you laugh!
Set around the local area and hillsides, our orienteering course is ideal for developing independence, self-reliance or just learning the skills required to find your way around a new place. Orienteering can be done as individuals or in small teams.
